Suggested Itinerary

Neuschwanstein Castle: Travel the steep, narrow road by carriage, bus or on foot to reach the hilltop fortress, coordinate your timed-entry ticket then tour the few completed rooms out of 360, admiring ornate furniture, paintings and Wagner-themed tapestries.

Lunch Break (approx. 1 hour): Enjoy a meal at a local restaurant as you make your way to Linderhof.

Optional Detour (plus 1 hour): Visit Wieskirche, the famous Rococo pilgrimage church, and the painted village of Oberammergau known for its Passion Play.

Linderhof Palace: Visit Ludwig II’s smallest (and only completed) castle dating from 1874. Tour the mirrored halls, tapestry chambers and grand chandeliers modeled on Versailles.

Formal Gardens: Stroll the terraced French gardens with grottos, pavilions and statues inspired by fanciful themes.

Please note: Neuschwanstein’s hilltop perch requires a fairly long uphill walk, and both castles involve multiple staircases with no elevator option.


Don’t forget to pause on Marienbrücke for the classic view of Neuschwanstein reflected in the Alpsee, then soak in the Alpine panorama before returning to Munich.
